Studio Boo has been working alongside Urban Symbiotics to create this bespoke street dressing, rugs and scarfs which celebrate the diverse Aldgate and Portsoken communities, with the designs taking inspiration from patterns and fabrics from various cultures represented in the area.
The street was dressed for the 150 years celebration of the Bartholomew Fair 2023.
Brief
Create street dressings for Aldgate Square in London to celebrate the 150 years of the Bartholmew Fair 2023 and the diverse community living in Aldgate.
Workshops
Over a 6 week period workshops were held in local schools and Aldgate Square. Influenced by the fabrics of their cultures the public were asked to draw and print motifs.
Workshop Outcomes
I redrew these motifs and created a bespoke pattern, weaving their ideas and colours into a pattern which can be used to dress the streets of Aldgate.
